NDIS SIL registration changes: what coordinators and families need to know

From 1 July 2026, providers delivering Supported Independent Living (SIL) must be registered with the NDIS Commission. Providers who were not already registered have until 1 October 2026 to register or must stop providing SIL supports — participants using an unregistered SIL provider after that date will need to find a new one.

The change does not apply to a few hours of support a week, or to a participant who self-directs and manages their own support workers directly. It is specifically about ongoing SIL packages: support at all or most times of the day, delivered and managed by a provider.

Alongside registration, SIL supports delivered from 1 July 2026 are claimed under a new support item code, 0138 (Assistance with Supported Independent Living), replacing the previous 0115 code. This is an administrative change to how registered providers claim — it does not change what SIL funding covers or how a participant’s plan works.

Nurture N Revive is already a registered NDIS provider (registration 4053413291), audited against the NDIS Practice Standards. For participants and coordinators currently with an unregistered SIL provider, this is a good moment to ask directly whether that provider is registering before 1 October 2026 — and to have a registered option on hand either way.
