“Daily Activities” in an NDIS plan: Core versus CB Daily Activity

An NDIS plan can have two budgets called “daily activities”. Core Daily Activities (Assistance with Daily Life) pays for help with everyday tasks now. CB Daily Activity (Improved Daily Living) pays for supports that build skills and independence over time. This guide explains the difference, with real support item numbers.

Checked against the 2026-27 NDIS Support Catalogue . Your plan and the NDIA decide what is funded.

Two budgets with almost the same name

Many plans show a “Daily Activities” line under Core supports and a “CB Daily Activity” line under Capacity Building. They sound alike but pay for different things.

Core Daily Activities pays for help with daily life now. CB Daily Activity pays for supports that build your ability to do things yourself over time. Most confusion about what a provider can claim comes from mixing the two up.

How to tell them apart by support item number

Every NDIS support item number starts with its support category and ends with its support purpose. Items starting with 01 are Core Assistance with Daily Life. Items starting with 15 are Capacity Building Improved Daily Living, which your plan calls CB Daily Activity.

The last digit gives the purpose: 1 means Core and 3 means Capacity Building. On an invoice or service agreement, 01_…_1 is Core Daily Activities and 15_…_3 is CB Daily Activity.

Some supports appear in both. Community nursing, for example, has items under 01 and under 15, so the budget it comes from depends on how your plan is written.
