NDIS group activities in south-east Melbourne: what is funded and how to join
NDIS group activities are funded as social and community participation: support to do things with other people, like cooking, craft or social outings. This guide explains what is funded, how group support compares in cost to one-on-one, and the groups Nurture N Revive can arrange at community centres around Cranbourne.
Updated . The NDIA decides what is funded in each plan.
What counts as an NDIS group activity
Group activities are funded as social and community participation, part of the Core supports budget in an NDIS plan. They cover support to take part in activities with other people: in a community venue, at a centre, or out in the community.
Examples include cooking groups, art and craft, social outings, games and sport. The point is the participant’s goals, such as making friends, building everyday skills or getting out of the house more, not the activity itself.
Group or one-on-one: how the cost compares
In a group, the support worker’s time is shared between the participants, so each person’s plan is usually charged less per hour than one-on-one support. Centre-based groups can also include a small centre capital cost.
One-on-one support suits people who need a worker’s full attention or want to do their own thing. Many participants mix both. Our budget tracker shows how many hours a remaining budget covers.
Groups we can arrange around Cranbourne
Nurture N Revive is registered with the NDIS Commission for group and centre activities and for developing life skills. We can arrange small group sessions at local community centres, such as cooking (planning a meal, shopping, cooking and sharing it) and craft.
Groups are arranged around the people who want to join, not a fixed timetable. Tell us what you would like to do, when suits you, and whether you would rather start one-on-one, and we will work it out with you.

Common questions about group activities
Does the NDIS fund group activities?
Yes. Group and community activities are funded as social and community participation in the Core supports budget. The support is what is funded. Activity costs such as ingredients, materials or entry fees are usually paid by the participant.
Source: NDIS: Pricing arrangementsIs a group cheaper than one-on-one support?
Usually, per hour. In a group the support worker’s time is shared between participants, so each plan is charged a share rather than the full one-on-one rate.
Source: NDIS: Pricing arrangementsCan NDIA-managed participants join your groups?
Yes. NDIA-managed participants must use registered providers, and Nurture N Revive is registered for group and centre activities. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can join too.
